Still not a terrible choice to keep one with your lord, and the army replenishment is nice.
Assassins used to be a must-have in an army - skaven didn't really have much lord-killing power - but with jezzails now these guys are less important. Indispensable for bolstering the inevitable weak points in the line. Plague priests are a must-have - they pretty much carry a whole army in their pockets (six units of clanrats and two units of plague monks!) and have other great spells too. Outside the army, he can now expand the underempire, which is super powerful.
Also brings a weak version of lore of ruin, which can be handy.
Lore of Plague is great, but I prefer it on a hero rather than a lord.įor heroes: Warlock engineers are pretty nice - army mobility is essential, and he gives serious buffs to ranged units. Ruin also gives you the fantastic Death Frenzy spell, and Howling Warpgale which is great vs fliers (which can really wreck a ranged-heavy skaven army otherwise). And lots of casts gives you lots of uses of the incredible Musk of Fear. Warp Lightning is just about the best spell in the game - it's useful against pretty much any unit, it does a heap of damage, it has good range, and it's cheap and quick to cast. For my money, the best lords are Lore of Ruin casters - and the new warlock lords seem to be better than the grey seers.
